I believe that the arts should be accessible and enjoyable for everyone! I think that makeup is one of the most freeing forms of creativity because you can do anything with it, there are no rules! I simply want everyone to be able to enjoy this art form!

Hello! My name is Mia Wetzel, I am 18 years old and based out of Arizona and St. Louis! I have always loved makeup since I was 3 years old, I used to sit and watch while my mom and sister would get ready, mesmerized by the way it applied and how it made them feel. As I got older the love flourished with the discovery of Youtubers. I grew up watching those of James Charles, Nikkie Tutorials, Jefferee Star and more. I discovered theatre when I was about 8 years old, meaning I have spent over half my life in theatre! I have been in many school productions, one acts, and a few community theatre shows. I already have experience applying and creating prosthetics, along with work in wig styling, and wig, hair, and makeup design. I spend most of my free time either watching Tv, hanging out with friends, or thinking up new makeup designs!
Welcome to the "shows" section of my website! This is where I will show the final product of shows I have worked on! Each show will have its own section with the title of the show at the top. Enjoy!

My design technique is one that I find to be very unique, as instead of using basic colored pencils, or markers, or some other standard art supply I use chalk. I hand mix each color to match what I envision! For the base shade I choose a shade that matches a majority of the areas demographic, unless specifically stated

Face on was a competition at my state Thespian Festival in which competitors would submit a design before hand, then have one hour to recreate said design on a person. I chose to do mine on Ariel from The Tempest by William Shakespeare. Ariel is a mischievous air spirit that lurks in dark corners. I incorporated this into my design with a wind swept hair look created by wire, blue makeup with sharp contours, and even a glow in the dark element.

EAFT is my chapter thespian competition in which I presented 5 designs of a given show. The show I chose to present was Suite Surrender by Michael McKeever. I also spoke about a "stage makeup workshop" I implemented to combat the growing number of actors that were thrown into theatre and never properly taught stage makeup. I received 2 perfect scores and 1 18/20.
